I was delighted to pair up with the amazing dream duo Jamie and Dr Zee of the British History Podcast last weekend. They really did their homework and came up with some fantastic questions resulting in a great conversation with some intriguing discussion points. I’d highly recommend listening to it because Jamie and Zee have done a great job in structuring my thoughts on the project and have brought the research to life.
(Also, Jamie’s done a great job of editing out all my giggling and nonsense answers…)
If you want to listen to it now or download it for later, find the link below. It’s pretty substantial at 1 hour and 38 minutes long (my apologies, I could talk about Ava all day and all night), but hopefully you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed doing it!
And whilst you;re over there check out all of the other amazing podcasts that these guys have done, it’s a goldmine of information told in a very enjoyable, educational, and easy-to-listen to way.
P.S. If you’re very lucky we will be hearing more Bronze Age Scotland podcasts from some really, really cool people on this podcast very, very soon.
Congratulations on you and your colleague’s excellent work! So glad J & Z interviewed you. It was a delight to listen to you talk at such length with both your personal experience and joy as well as the descriptions of you and your colleague’s analysis. While I am a scientist in the biomedical realm, I can still understand a. the significance of what you’re discussing (good job there) and b. how arcane you *didn’t* make this seem. This was clearly because of your joy in learning and sharing the personal details of this person’s life (these people’s lives). I think you are a spectacular advocate for the importance of archaeology. If I may extend the Gladstone quotation, it is a further mark of a community how they care for the dead of other (previous) communities.

I remember seeing the BBC news story, but didn’t realise it came from Caithness. I’m still catching up on the British History Podcast, so I was surprised when this episode popped up and it turned out I have actually been to the site earlier this year! I took my family to the Achavanich standing stones on the way back from the Camster Cairns when were we visiting my father in Thurso. And we went to the Caithness Horizons, but I don’t remember if we saw any bronze age exhibits. This is fascinating and I will be following you FB and Twitter feeds to keep up-to-date.
Thank you so much for driving this project forwards !
